The former Danity Kane singer said that doing the nasty just wasn’t a top priority for her during her teen years.

“When I was 17, contrary to popular opinion, I was a virgin. I was very scared of boys. I was very insecure about my body and I thought anything sexual was disgusting.”

And now she struts around half naked (or fully naked at times). My how they grow up so quickly. Interestingly enough Aubrey thinks that her sex-phobia made a lot of people think she was a lesbian. Well, at least they sort of got that part right.

I know this a minor story, but it is very, very fascinating to me, this Aubrey O’Day Hitler thing.  If you missed it yesterday, Aubrey went on The Sean Hannity Show and said that while she did not condone the actions of Fidel Castro and Adolf Hitler, they were both brilliant men.  Hannity and co. met these statements with affront and condescension, of course, and I predicted that the celebrity media mill would probably churn out a mess of blog posts headlined AUBREY O’DAY HEARTS HITLER.  Perez Hilton literally wrote it as “Aubrey O’Day Hearts Fidel Castro… And Hitler Too!”

As a celebrity blogger, unless you yourself are brilliant, you don’t really get to form nuanced, original thoughts for each of your posts because you’re obliged to bang out a certain number every day.  So when you write about a celebrity, you fall back on the snapshot consensus identity the blogosphere has given her (typically it’s a her), which in Aubrey O’Day’s case is “talentless, dumb skank” (which is the go-to for most young celebrity women).  So that was the kneejerk, for most bloggers: talentless, dumb skank Aubrey O’Day praises Hitler.  Now TMZ has gone out of its way to validate that assessment – which in this case is wrongheaded and off-base – by talking to “the Jewish community” about its outrage at Aubrey O’Day…  

TMZ spoke with Rabbi Chaim Cunin of Chabad House who gave us the following statement:

“When a woman like her uses public airwaves, with access to millions of wonderful citizens of America, and calls some of the most despicable, unspeakable hate mongers of history brilliant, then something is lacking with her intelligence.

This is a constant reminder of how careful we need to be when we talk about hate, because hatred is always present. We need to make sure we are careful and that hatred doesn’t rear it’s ugly head.

‘I’d like for her to think about some older Holocaust survivor having that comment beamed into their home while they are enjoying the freedom that this beautiful country provides and having to listen to her disgusting comments.”

I assure you that TMZ called rabbi after rabbi to get a negative statement about how hateful Aubrey O’Day’s comments were (for the record, Aubrey said, “What Hitler succeeded in doing, was deplorable… And I hope we never see such an abusive use of power again.”) and most were like, uh, no thanks, all she said was that Hitler was brilliant and evil, which is not controversial or incorrect at all since psychologists estimate his IQ to have been in the 140-150 range.   Luckily, TMZ finally found one who could give an accurate statement on behalf of “the Jewish community.”  (I did enjoy that they dubbed her “Aubrey Oy Vey.”)

Most other blogs only went so far as to call her an idiot rather than a hatemonger, but it’s almost as though they didn’t even watch the clip.  It’s almost like, Aubrey O’Day said something, therefore it is stupid.  This is also interesting because it’s the purest example I’ve seen in a long time of how we mainly take our news in the form of juicy little single-facet gotcha! snippets.  (See also: wise Latina Sonia Sotomayor.)  You are not going to click on a blog post headlined “Aubrey O’Day Gives Rational Argument About The Disjoint Between Intelligence and Morality in Adolf Hitler.”  You’re going to click on one that says, “Noted Whore Aubrey O’Day Heils Hitler.”  Now that the short form is really the only form of journalism anyone reads or watches, this removing-a-statement-from-context trick is basically standard practice, even in outlets I admire.  (Hell, it’s the bread and butter of The Daily Show.)  The irony, I suppose, is that this kind of media is the only reason Aubrey O’Day exists in the first place.

But it is kind of a shame, and I truly hope Aubrey O’Day does not apologize for her remarks.  In conclusion, Aubrey O’Day, please go steady with me.

Ahhh this is so LOLsy.  Aubrey O’Day was on The Sean Hannity Show last night.  Why?  For what reason?  I have no idea.  The FOX people were probably like, OMG this broad was in Playboy and is a celebrity and a liberal, obviously she is so dumb and stupid and will just spout off dumb, stupid things.  Our viewership will sit at home and watch her and just get so piping mad that Aubrey O’Day is able to exist and say and do things without going to jail that they’ll probably throw their beers at their TV screen/child.

The thing, though, is that Aubrey O’Day is not dumb.  Is she smart?  I don’t know.  But she seems to have traveled places and cared about things and thought about issues, which is probably more than most b-side celebrities can say.

Anyway, two clips from the show.  In one, she spars with the conservatives about a U.N. children’s sexual health initiative on masturbation.  In the other, she violates The First Rule About Talking About Hitler (Is You Can’t Say Anything Good About Hitler).  

In this clip, Hannity is blowing smoke about one line in a U.N. document that aims to educate children as young as five about certain sexual practices.  And Hannity is like, oh my God, the U.N. is so terrible.  Aubrey O’Day, say something dumb about how great the U.N. is.  And Aubrey says, well in some countries, children that young get rape + AIDS all the time, so yes, they should be educated.  And Hannity is all, SO YOU THINK AMERICA SHOULD PAY FOR UNIVERSAL HEATHCARE FOR THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE???  ADDITIONALLY: SOCIALISM.

This clip is way funnier.  I think the caller asked whether Aubrey thought Fidel Castro was brilliant or not, and she says, I don’t agree with his stuff a lot, but undeniably he is brilliant.  And the hosts are all Ahhhhhhh!  And then in hushed tones, Hannity asks, do you think… do think Hitler was brilliant?  And Aubrey O’Day says, obviously he was way bad and evil but of course he was brilliant, he ran an empire and manipulated millions of people.  And the hosts go AHHHHHHHHH!!  AHHHHHHHH!!!!!  And Greta van Sustern is just like rocking back and forth with her eyes closed clutching her prayer beads and intoning, Jesus please save Aubrey O’Day from the things she is saying, please save her from being young and sexual and pretty and loving Hitler, dear Lord.

The unfortunate part of all this is that today’s headlines will all read AUBREY O’DAY OF DANITY KANE HEARTS HITLER, SHE KILLED AND ATE A JEW ON LIVE TV, BASICALLY.

Exciting times we live in, friends!  Virtuoso songstress Aubrey O’Day has covered virtuoso balladeer Eddie Murphy‘s 1985 hit “Party All the Time“!  That’s all well and good, you grumble, looking all downcasty, but how am supposed to afford this song that I would really like to buy, what with my savings demolished by the recession?

According to The Sun, “you can hear [it] for FREE” (emphasis theirs, hilariously).  Does Aubrey O’Day actually yell, “It’s Rick James, b*tch!” at some point in the song?  You’ll just have to listen to find out.  (She does.)  New song plus the original, after the jump.

When you’re Aubrey O’Day, you realize that pimping your up and coming Las Vegas show is almost as important as looking good for it, then you’re set for success.  I’m actually fairly surprised as Aubrey’s looking pretty good and the copious amount of glitter isn’t hurint anything either.  However, I feel like a trip to vegas to see her perform will be in order just so I can report to you guys how truly terrible/awesome she is on stage.

Singer Ashley Parker Angel and Tiffany Lynn have called off their engagement. Rumors abound that Ashley Parker Angel is hooking up with Aubrey O’Day of Danity Kane, his co-star in “Hairspray”.

An inside source says, “They’ve known each other for a while and now they’re hooking up.”

Aubrey O’Day said of the romance with Ashley Parker Angel, “Only time will tell.”

A friend of Aubrey O’Day’s says it is serious! “She’s been bragging to her friends about how cute he is and even brought him to Pop Burger after the show on July 17.”

Whoa, what the hell is Aubrey O’Day wearing?  That has got to be the ugliest dress of all time.  What is it, a strand of the Swine Flu attached to some pink crap?  I am constantly confused by her wardrobe choices.  It’s not like she’s got a terrible body, but she has the uncanny ability to make herself look even worse by wearing something like this frock.  It’s absolutely mind-boggling.
