At some point guys like 2003 Sprint Cup champion Matt Kenseth must get tired of driving. Seriously. Think about it, you spend all day at your computer, typing away; the last thing you probably want to do is go home and sit at the computer. We feel you, Mr. Kenseth.

You have to imagine that when Kenseth was given the chance to let someone else do all the work he must have jumped all over it.

Strongman Rendy DeLaCruz was that someone this past weekend when he pulled Kenseth’s No.17 Jeremiah Weed car at a “Safe Ride” event. The idea was to see if DeLaCruz could pull Kenseth’s car 100 feet in less than 60 seconds… and for Jeremiah Weed to promote responsible drinking. Everyone wins.

Prior to the event, DeLaCruz tested his strength by doing such things as flipping a 1,000 pound tire to pulling a plane. Things most of us dudes do in our spare time. He admits, though,while he might not get the No. 17 Jeremiah Weed car going as fast as Matt Kenseth is used to, he’ll assuredly get from point A to point B safely. Safe is good.

In the end, DeLaCruz crushed his goal of 100 feet in 60 seconds by crossing the finish line in just 26 seconds. Wow. We need to get ourselves one of those strongmen. Seriously, have you seen how expensive gas is?

Times are tough, the economy is still a little on the sh*tastic side, so to counteract below-average attendance at Cubs’ games officials have decided to sell $3 beers to fans in the bleacher seats. The deal, which will only be offered on Tuesdays, is among a number of discounts Wrigley Field is offering to boost attendance. Beginning on May 11, fans will only pay $1 for hot dogs, while starting May 30, every fan sitting in a bleacher seat gets a free T-shirt.

Hey, I have an idea. Instead of offering crappy T-shirts (we’ll gladly accept the beer and hot dogs), why don’t you lower ticket prices. That might just do the trick, no?

With plans for a location in the Graybar passage between Lexington Avenue and the Great Hall, the Beer Table isn’t planning on opening a bar. Instead, the location will focus on retail, peddling growlers and international selections. But either way, decent beer in Grand Central station is bound to make any commute just that much better. Expect the Beer Table to open in a couple of months.
