Complete Wrap-Up From Comic-Con 2011

We weren’t lucky enough to have attended Comic-Con this year, but we did get a full report from both our friends who were there and the Internet who was buzzing about the event all weekend. Really, though, the weekend, as reported by the Internet, tends to be about the costumes and, well, the girls. Oh, and how can we forget the trailers, trailers, trailers, and more trailers! Still, there is plenty of authenticity at the event, despite the commercial onslaught.

Having said that, since we didn’t attend this year, here are some of the best Comic-Con posts from the weekend.

Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird to be Featured on ‘NBA2K12′ Video Game Cover

The folks over at 2K Sports have decided that NBA legends Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson will grace the cover of their upcoming ‘NBA2K12′ video game.

Details:

The game company announced on Thursday that NBA Hall of Famers Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Jordan will be featured in three separate covers on the front of “NBA 2K12,” the latest installment of the best-selling basketball video game franchise.

Last year, Jordan was the cover athlete for 2K’s NBA game, which sold more than 5 million units. Jordan also worked closely with the game’s developers for last year’s game, providing his input on details such as a player’s shot technique.

We suppose this has nothing to do with the fact that the league is currently locked out. Especially since these covers are considered long in advance.

The game is expected to go on sale October 4 of this year, and there are still no specific details as to what kind of role Jordan, Bird and Magic will play in the game itself.

In Science News: Female Drivers Are More Dangerous Than Male Drivers

We finally got the science on our side.

According to researchers, women drivers are more dangerous behind the wheel than their male counterparts. They studied a total of 6.5 million car crashes between 1998 and 2007 to reach their conclusion.

Details:

Researchers looked at 6.5million car crashes and found a higher than expected number of accidents between two female drivers.

They also discovered that women have a tough time negotiating crossroads, T-junctions and slip roads.

The results are even more surprising given that men spend more time behind the wheel than women. On average, men drive 60 per cent of the time, and women 40 per cent.

Michael Sivak, of the University of Michigan, said: ‘The results indicate that in certain crash scenarios, male-to-male crashes tend to be under-represented and female-to-female crashes tend to be over-represented.’

So there’s that. Just remember this next time your wife/girlfriend wants to drive. It’s actually safer if you took the wheel.

Old School Michael Jordan Commercial For Gentle-Treatment Hair Relaxer [Video]

In 1986 Michael Jordan was just looking to get paid, which is likely why he agreed to do this commercial for Gentle-Treatment Relaxer. Years later, it was Coke, Nike, McDonalds and Hanes, to name a few.

The music (little Luther?), the story-line, Jordan macking on some female reporter; this commercial has it all! It’s funny to think that the world’s greatest basketball player of all time at one point in his career had to do such things as film commercials in which he drops a line like, “Can I do a story about you?”  A commercial for ladies hair product!

I guess it goes to show, things do get better, kids!

In Future News: Science Plays the Guitar [Video]

It’s official. We no longer need you and your guitar lessons, we now have science.

Leave it to the Japanese for finding out how to get laid in high school without having any discernible talent. They invented the PossessedHand, which can only be described as a device that can “move your fingers into the proper positions to play musical instruments.” Yes, we needed one of those. Because learning to play the guitar the traditional way was just too hard.

How it works, complete with video, after the jump!

Getting To Know the New Apple iCloud

You might as well get to know the Apple iCloud, since it’s being deemed the next big thing. Remember when you said the iPod had no legs and the iPhone was going to sink? Well, don’t lose out on this new… gadget.

What is the Apple iCloud, you ask? Really, we have no idea. But, from what little we do know it’s probably going to be huge.

Details:

The new iCloud service replaces Apple’s MobileMe document-sharing offering, which cost $99 a year. The new iCloud service is free and available now with an iOS 4.3 update, Jobs said. With iCloud, content such as music and documents is stored on large servers instead of on personal hard drives—and is accessible from anywhere through the Internet. Apple will provide 5 gigabytes of free storage for mail, documents and backup. The new iCloud service is Apple’s seal of approval of what many experts believe is the next major iteration of the digital world.

Sounds simple enough. Or does it? The imagery is great, thinking about all your files, your music, and your e-mails living in the clouds is fantastic as far as we’re concerned.

The Guardian UK took some time to answer some of the most frequently asked questions regarding the iCloud. Such questions as: Why?

Because whereas 10 years ago Steve Jobs talked about the personal computer being the “digital hub”, Apple now thinks that cloud computing is going to be the hub, because it has diversified its product range – iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod Touch – so that you don’t necessarily need a “PC” to do the tasks that previously needed the power of a CPU on your desk.

There you have it. Again, get to know the iCloud because it seems as if you’re likely to own one — or two.

Demi Lovato Shows Us What She’s Got…And We’d Like Some More!

Demi Lovato has returned from rehab looking WAY better than Amy Winehouse EVER did! Although she says she has had problems with her body image in the past, we can’t understand why because she looks smokin’ hot in this picture that she posted on her twitter page!

For the record (and those of you who want your shot), there is “grass on her field” and she will be 19 this year! She is said to be a devout Christian but after reports of her opening a fresh can of “whoop-a**” on her back-up dancer clearly she is down for some un-holy activities…
