Of Roaches and Rats: Strip Club War Ends In Sentencing

A strip club battle to end all battles erupted in Atlanta several years ago after Club Onyx began to steal some business away from neighboring boobie bar Platinum 21. Not cool with its customers heading over to Club Onyx to get their naked jollies, Platinum 21 workers decided to take matters into their own hands. After tossing in some rats and roaches to no avail (I guess the clear heels and pole swinging was just too much of a distraction for customers), workers decided that arson was the only suitable answer to getting rid of the competition. Three people, including the security chief and manager, were sentenced for their part in the $1.8 million damage they inflicted.

Competition is stiff in Atlanta were almost three dozen strip clubs battle it out to claim their territory and attract the most customers. According to trial documents, Platinum 21 was suffering as Club Onyx became the go-to destination for hip-hop stars looking to check some nice young ladies doing what they do on stage. The club’s corporate manager, one of the individual’s sentenced, said that in comparison to Club Onyx, Platinum 21 was like a ‘single-wide trailer competing with the Taj Mahal.’” I’d hate to think what Platinum’s talent was looking like. I imagine single-wide accommodations wouldn’t be pulling in a lot of top-rate stripping ladies.
