A Beer That’s Out of This World
Straight out of Japan, comes “Space Barley.” And it’s exactly what it sounds like. Japanese brewery Sapporo used barley that had been sent up into space as an experiment in crop growing to create its latest brew. The barley had been on its space odyssey for five months before Sapporo got a hold of it.
Currently the beer is only available to a lucky few via a lottery system. The sixers of Space Barley will be sold to 250 lucky boozers at a whopping $115, or about $19 a bottle.
Sapporo actually hopes that their new concoction will be available to future space travelers, saying they wish “the newly-created space beer may eventually become available for astronauts to enjoy in space.”
That would make for some interesting space expeditions. Beer pong in space? Ah, the possibilities.
