Tactical Nuclear Penguin Could Be World's Strongest Beer

While the name concerns me a bit (I don’t know how I feel about downing some Penguin), famed brewers, BrewDog, claim that they have created the world’s strongest beer. Previously the honor had gone to Germany’s Schorschbraer, but BrewDog beats that 18 percent alcohol by volume beer with Tactical Nuclear Penguin which is 31 percent ABV.

Unfortunately for boozers around the world there are only 500 bottles of this magical alcoholic concoction going on sale at a whopping $50 a bottle (damn Penguin!).

In order to get their beer as alcoholic (and awesome) as possible, brewers aged the stout for 16 months in whiskey containers and stored the beer at below zero temperatures. They recommend that drinkers enjoy Penguin in small portions because of how boozed up it is.

For true beer enthusiasts, BrewDog is also offering a special edition of this beer for$410 that would also buy you a stake in the company. They are trying to raise enough cash to build a new brewery in Aberdeen.

The warning label on the bottle, according to BrewDog, reads as follows:

‘This is an extremely strong beer, it should be enjoyed in small servings and with an air of aristocratic nonchalance. In exactly the same manner that you would enjoy a fine whisky, a Frank Zappa album or a visit from a friendly yet anxious ghost.’

Great article. I especially enjoyed the complete lack of research/high journalistic standards.

Umm the previous 3 strongest beers in the world were made by Sam Adams. The Utopias, Millennium, and Triple Bock.

Lets see if I can reply to this on this with my brand new ipod touch…
