Video: Wolf Blitzer Pulls a Paris Hilton on Celebrity "Jeopardy"
Celebrity Jeopardy is ice-cream-sundaes-on-a-Ferris-Wheel easy. We’re talking actual clues that include hints like, ”It was no ‘mission impossible’ for him…” (this for $1000, no less) and “frankfurter dipped in batter.” Well Alex, I still think you made that whole “corn dog” thing up, but I sure do recognize another Scientologist when I hear one!
However, for poor Wolf Blitzer, Celebrity Jeopardy was not to include any ice cream sundaes or Ferris Wheels. It was hard, like division, and tying your shoes, and ignoring bullies! Responding only encourages them, Wolf Blitzer! Hilarious clip from the episode, after the J…
On one question, the category is “E x 3,” which means the answer (or “question,” whatever) has to have three E’s in it. And Wolf Blitzer, who is the third to buzz in and therefore has had probably a minute to think about the clue, says, “annotated.” I’m sorry, but there is no way you can shake up the letters in the word “annotated” in your My First Letters Cup and come out with three E’s. Or two E’s, for that matter. And then Wolf one-ups himself with this ringer:
Clue: “The 1850s saw a bad one of this five-letter word that refers to an economic crash and the fear-driven rush to sell.”
Wolf: “What is, a crash?” NO WOLF BLITZER, IT WAS DESCRIBED AS A CRASH IN THE CLUE HOW COULD THAT POSSIBLY BE THE ANSWER.
Here’s the clip. Start it at around 5:45.
I think the part right before the Final Jeopardy is funniest. Trebek is like, wow Andy Richter, you are such a big smart boy answering all those hard knowledge questions. Here is your shiny gold star, and also you will get a dog for Christmas! And then he turns to Wolf Blitzer. Oh dear, Wolf Blitzer, usually you would be out of the contest with -$4600 at the end of Double Jeopardy, but we can’t very well take $4600 from your favorite charity, now can we? Here, you tried so hard, have this $1000. Don’t spend it all in one place, especially if that place is “answering the Final Jeopardy question wrong”!
