The Most Terrifying Furry Costumes, Now in Time for the Holidays!
NorthFur FX really goes that extra mile in making outfits, masks, and prosthetics for grown adult humans who want to dress up as animals in the in the most lifelike costumes available on the market. From the Q&A:
Why do you make so many animal type prosthetics?
We simply prefer making animals. There aren’t many available and it comes up very often in plays and LARPs and even in fandoms that people would want animal characters. Witches and devils and demons have been done time and time again by many other companies, yet no one has taken the time to make a horse, a frog or even any beaks.
I am a LARPER, which prosthetics are best?
Any prosthetic with a shorter muzzle will be best since it’s less protruding from your face and will be less likely to be hit by a boffer weapon. The type of material depends on your preference and budget.
I think the eeriest and most unnerving part of these is that all the animal-people are silent, opening and closing their mouths noiselessly, just like how they do in nightmares. Oh, LARP is “Live Action Role Playing.” I did not want to google “furry boffer” because once that sort of thing is in your browser history, your computer loses a lot of respect for you. So I don’t know what a boffer is. These are NorthFur’s promotional videos.
You would run, if you saw this person on the street. He wouldn’t even have to be wearing makeup to look like a chicken. He could just be at the ATM or the in the park. But still, you would just instinctively know, something in your millennia-old evolutionary fear glands would be able to tell that this is a man who spends his off hours filming himself leering at a camera while wearing a chicken mask. And you would run.
I think this one is my favorite. It is billed as “Bear/Dog Nose: Panda Version.” Is it a bear? A dog? A panda? Aw, who’s keeping score, anyway? Midway through, the furry dons a bowler hat, because NorthFur realizes you’re not going to buy a bear dog panda prosthetic without knowing how it will look with your bowler hat!
And this one, presented without comment. OK, with one comment: somebody forgot to tell this guy dolphins don’t have chest hair.
