Marilyn Monroe's Crypt-Lover Evicted From His Resting Place for $4.6 Million

some like it cremated

Here’s a bizarre and kind of icky celebrity story for you: the crypt above Marilyn Monroe‘s has just been sold for $4.6 million on eBay.  By the widow of the unfortunate guy who currently occupies it.  Westwood Memorial Cemetery, probably home to more dead celebrities than anywhere else in the world, has plots that go for as much as $1 million, standard.  Elsie Poncher, seeing an opportunity to pay off her debts just like that, put

her late husband’s crypt up for auction to help pay off the $1.6 million mortgage on her Beverly Hills home.

Poncher told the newspaper that her husband, Richard Poncher, bought the crypt from Monroe’s former husband, Joe DiMaggio, during his 1954 divorce from Monroe. Her husband died 23 years ago at 81.

In the process, a legend surrounding the burial of Poncher and Marilyn Monroe was proved true…

Poncher was buried face-down, “to be interred in an eternal kiss with Hollywood’s immortal sex goddess.”  One must wonder exactly how strong the ties were that bound Poncher and his wife, considering that a) he must have been decades older than her, b) he wanted to spend his eternity on top of another woman, and c) his wife straight up sold him right out of his own grave.

I wonder if there’s any way to buy like a Deathtime Membership Forever Plan on your crypt so that your fiscally irresponsible survivors don’t toss you out of your resting place because they failed to not get in debt a million dollars.

I think Marilyn’s legend far exceeds the truth about who and what she really was. She’s beautiful but nothing outstanding imo. I prefered her naturally, when she went by the name of Norma Jean. However, imo, no one came close to Rita Hayworth; she was a masterpiece!
