Here's Why Chris Brown's Leaked New Song Confirms He Is Complete Scum
It’s OK, everyone! I know we’ve all been like, damn can we forgive Chris Brown already and just start thinking about how soulful and dreamy he is again? Well now we can, because a copy of his new single “Changed Man” has been leaked online and it is obvious from it that Chris Brown is just so, so sorry.
Oh, who am I kidding, this guy is such a piece of sh*t. Here’s why, plus the song, after the jump.
Lyrical sample? Sure: ”Everybody hates Chris/ they can never understand.” True, it is hard to understand why someone would want to beat little Rihanna black and blue.
However, Chris Brown will have a comeback with this album, I’m sorry to say. The producers and writers savvy/sleazy enough to work with him after his punch-throwing were making a classic buy-low, sell-high investment on the insider knowledge that Chris Brown’s fans are largely idiots.
On this record, there was going to be a track that addressed the assault. But this isn’t a matter of an artist writing a song to emotionally grapple with the turmoil in his life. It’s a matter of somebody else writing a song for Chris Brown in 45 minutes that Chris Brown auto-tune “sang” and that Chris Brown will make millions of dollars from. ”Changed Man” is an apology Chris Brown will be able to buy a Lamborghini off.
And it’s a full blown apology track too: not only the “I’m sorry,” but also the “I still love you.” Lyric: “I remember your touch/ God, I miss you so much.” Even though some Brown flack can say that the song was merely inspired by real events, fans will take the lyrics as literally true to life, though however sorry Chris Brown may be, he certainly wasted no time in getting over that charges-pressing b*tch Rihanna. This song isn’t, “I’m sorry and I learned my lesson.” That would have been fair, I guess. It’s: “I’m not only sorry, I’m sorry in deeply passionate, sensitive, sexy ways [, preteen female fans].” It’s: “I’m sorry, and you don’t even know how much it hurt me when my girlfriend left me after I beat the f*ck out of her.” Chris Brown is so, so sorry, Rihanna would be cruel not to take him back.
After the song was leaked, Jive Records absurdly stated that it was recorded “‘some time ago, a long time ago, actually,’ and could not specify whether or not the song was created after the February incident,” though the song’s producer later verified it was recorded after the incident (he also said that Brown “is the future of R&B”). Why the initial half-denial? Presumably because Jive didn’t want it to look like they were turning domestic abuse into profit. If the song doesn’t make it onto the album, it’s only because of how repugnantly transparent it makes Jive’s/Brown’s scheme look now.
“Girl I know I told ya, baby this ain’t over.” That line in the song is important. In addition to being what you say at the end of a fight, as a threat (“this isn’t over!”), it is a subtle statement of control. Brown is not asking his errant lover to take him back – he’s telling her she will. And that may be the most pernicious thing about this track. As Rihanna’s own mother told the Star less than two weeks ago:
“I’m devastated, but what can I do? Rihanna is her own woman with her own mind and very, very independent …. Chris has a bizarre power over her. She still loves him and he knows it. In her eyes he’s a god. Even after all this time, and even after what he did, it’s not diminished, no way.”

R U kidding me? He has been punished by a court of law, accepted guilt, and apologized many times. What else can he do but move forward? Obviously, Rihanna is not scared, she wants the restraining order removed. We were not there and we don’t know his heart and the producer said he also wrote the song. He is not a monster, he had 1 horrible incident that he regrets. Let them both move forward. It’s their life.
