Megan Fox Vs. Lady GaGa: Who Wins at Internet Celebrity?

The internet can be a scary place for celebrities.  Sure, most celebrity blogs won’t hire paparazzi to run your car off the road, but internet gossip is a lot bigger and meaner than olden-days gossip.  It’s a giant wormhole that sucks actors, singers, and unsuspecting reality TV tools down, and only recently have the celebrities begun to throw themselves in willingly.

But it’s an easy system to game if you don’t mind being called a fat busted whore slut by bloggers and commenters: give ten thousand blogs something to post about you, and ten thousand blogs will post about you.  Ten million people will then read these posts.  No one has this figured out better than Megan Fox and Lady GaGa, neither of whom has achieved anything particularly noteworthy in traditional acting or singing, but both of whom have achieved something much more complicated.  But which is the queen of the celebrity internet?  Showdown, after the jump.

Google Trends

Google Trends maps the frequency and popularity of Google searches.  The chart below shows the buzz of Megan Fox and Lady GaGa over the course of this year.  Megan Fox is the blue, Lady GaGa is the red.  As you can see, GaGa has had more buzz for most of the year, but the two are virtually even right now.

Google Hits

In terms of purely hits, Lady GaGa has the edge, with 46.8 million versus Megan’s 41.8 million.
