Ryan O'Neal Hits On Own Daughter at Farrah Fawcett's Funeral

What a guy – actor Ryan O’Neal, whose longtime partner Farrah Fawcett died in June, tried to pick up his own daughter by accident at Fawcett’s funeral.

We have some f*cked up tabloid celebrities these days, but they just don’t make ‘em like they used to.  Details of the encounter, plus bonus anecdote about the time O’Neal tried to shoot his son (he’s not so hot at being a father), after the jump…  

This is from an upcoming Vanity Fair piece about the crazy O’Neals:

“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me,” Ryan told me. “I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me—Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”

“That’s our relationship in a nutshell,” Tatum said when I asked her about it. “You make of it what you will.” She sighed. “It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.”

But at least he didn’t fire a gun at her:

As Fawcett battled cancer, O’Neal and his oldest son, Griffin, warred over the actress’s will, not just verbally — O’Neal attempted to shoot Griffin at Fawcett’s 60th birthday celebration.

“I could have hit him, but I missed,” O’Neal told Bennetts. “Farrah was lying in bed, and she could hear it all — fights swinging, gunshots. Welcome to the O’Neals’!”

So I mean that would be nice if O’Neal’s attempt to reconcile with and marry Farrah at the end of her life were a sweet and heartfelt thing, but this portrait of the man is not so conducive to that interpretation, ya know?
