Grim Details of Coke Psychosis and Suicide Emerge in Mischa Barton Hospitalization

sometimes life gives you lemons, other times, rusty nails, and there's really not a lot you can do with those

Neil Young famously advised that it’s better to burn out than to fade away, but give Mischa Barton credit for trying to have it both ways.  The poor gal was checked into a mental ward late last week, and now some fairly wince-worthy details are emerging about the causes.

Say what you will about her talents, say what you will about the quality of television today – The O.C. was one of the most influential shows of the decade. No O.C., no Laguna Beach, no Gossip Girl, no Spencer and Heidi, no Real Housewives.  The entire clade of psuedo-reality rich-person-drama shows shares a common ancestor in The O.C. Now,

Mischa Barton was so high on coke following a marathon three-day bender that friends called cops afraid she would kill herself…

Barton, who is only 23, was committed to a psychiatric ward under California’s Section 5150, which permits hospitals to hold mental patients against their will for up to 72 hours if it is deemed they present a danger to themselves or others.  Reportedly, Barton had been spotted in an incoherent and topless state at a hotel pool in recent days.

Another “friend” told the Post,

“She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral.

“She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess.”

Barton missed the premiere of her new movie, Homecoming, but she recently said,

“It does get cumbersome to have to address the same non-issues on a repeated basis. Fortunately, I’m healthy and comfortable in my own skin.

“I’m happy. I wouldn’t change my body, and I couldn’t anyway. The only way to be happy and be a more enjoyable person is to embrace what you’ve got.”

Hopefully she can pull off a Britney-style rebound.

Well… I definitely don’t view her as a “victim”. Nor do I feel sorry for her. 23 wasn’t too long ago for me and even before then, I knew my limits. She’s think she’s just a dorky girl who got more attention than she deserved and didn’t know how to deal with it. Probably gives into peer presure easily as well. Sorry, but there’s no excuse for stupid! Btw, without 90210 there’d be no OC
