Lance Armstrong Not Winning Tour de France Yet

2 soon 2 look smug

We’re at the tenth stage of the 2009 Tour de France and Lance Armstrong, 7-time winner, 3-year retiree, is not winning yet.  But he has time!

Rinaldo Nocentini of Italy kept the leader’s yellow jersey on a flat route favoring sprinters. Contador crossed the line in 40th place. Armstrong, the seven-time champion, finished in the main pack at 46th. Overall, Nocentini stayed six seconds ahead of Contador and eight in front of Armstrong.

Britain’s Mark Cavendish won this leg…

There was slight controversy with the Tour banning the use of inter-team communication earpieces for the 10th and 11th legs.  This technology allows teams to know when to push, when to rest, and what hazards to look out for.  Armstrong and others opposed the ban, but in stride:

“I can’t hear anything; I don’t know anything. … I feel naked,” the 37-year-old Texan said. “I think it’s a lot to do about nothing.”

Anyway, Lance Armstrong: win.

What do you think?  Top contender, has-been, or doped up all along?

  1. American Fries! says:

I dunno, he is almost 40. But I hope he wins just so the tough talking French media can show our one-balled American hero some more love.
