Video: Hurricane Chris Shows Louisiana House of Representatives What It Is
Rapper Hurricane Chris played an unusual venue yesterday – the floor of the Louisiana House of Representatives. In the video, a speaker announces that the House wishes “to commend Hurrican Chris for… the tremendous pride and honor he brings to his family, his friends, the city of Shreveport, and the state of Louisiana.” (He made “Ay Bay Bay”!) Chris then takes the stand, tells the legislating body that, “I’m gonna get ya’ll familiar with me,” and drops the beat to “Halle Berry (She’s Fine).”
Does an old, white politician make a hurricane joke? Of course. Reactions of the House members, plus the priceless video, after the jump.
Chris is the godson of Rep. Barbara Norton. She said, of the video, which is “going viral,” as they say,
“I’m excited to know that Louisiana is putting something on the internet that’s positive because there are so many things on the internet and we’re on the bottom.”
What does that even mean? Where is this “bottom” of the internet, and how can I find it? But not everyone is happy.
State Representative Austin Badon, D-New Orleans, says he’s disgusted by the lyrics and what happened. “I thought it was very inappropriate,” he said. “It’s not the kind of music that I listen to.”
Bah! Austin Badon will not stand for this sort of rappity-rap music tomfoolery in his Capitol! As always, remember here that Louisiana’s governor took part in an exorcism once, and one of the men representing Louisiana in the U.S. Senate was nailed for having prostitute sex with a side of diapers.
Fast-forward to about 4 minutes. It’s a clean version of the song, if you’re wondering.
