Rumors of New "Futurama" Episodes

bender futurama comedy central 1

Good news for Matt Groening fans: Futurama, the Simpsons-looking show that was set in the future and was generally an enjoyable viewing experience, may be returning to production.  New episodes stopping airing in 2003, and four straight-to-DVD movies were released, but it has been years since we’ve had new Futurama material.

Why?  Well, America needs a clueless do-nothing loser, a alcoholic man-hating robot, and an assembly of freaks to remind us of our dismal future now more than ever, lest any of us start getting too optimistic about the recession slowdown or the Chevy Volt.  Details of the show’s return, after the jump.

Comedy Central has ordered all brand new episodes of Futurama, and the show has officially gone back into production.

An insider told Collider.com that the network has given the series an order for 13 additional episodes to air now that the network has run through all of the series’ original episodes and the four full-length DVD movies. This news has sparked rumors that production has officially started again on the series and casting is underway.

I hope that they at least manage to land the same voice actor guy again for Bender’s character.

Also, from the Knowledge Corner: Futurama is Al Gore’s favorite show.  True.

And I think I hear one other thing rattling around in the Corner: Arrested Development is never coming back as a TV show.  I’m sorry, it just isn’t.  It’s time for you to get on with your life.

Futurama was always a great show and Fox did it wrong, just like Family Guy, so I am so happy there are new shows coming.
