The recent speculation over who’ll be casted in the new Thor movie has been all over the place. It’s Chris Hemsworth! He played Captain Kirk’s father, Captain George Kirk in the new Star Trek film. His character perished in the first 15 minutes of the film so there’s no worrying about having to deal with scheduling conflicts now that he’s been casted as Thor in Marvel’s up and coming film directed by Kenneth Branagh. Helmsworth might be virually unknown in the United States, but he’s a big huge deal in Australia where he played Kim Hyde in Home & Away.
I really liked him as George Kirk and thought that was really great casting, but I think Marvel and Kenneth Branagh have done the right thing by casting him as Thor, which seems like a perfect match! Some of the people being considered to play Thor were all wrong in my opinion, and I really think choosing someone that hasn’t established themselves in Hollywood is a great idea because it gives audiences the ability to take the character for who it is, without the baggage of the actor! Sort of like the whole Deadpool problem with Ryan Reynolds, where the actor outshines the merits of the chracter. What do you think? Will Hemsworth make a great Thor or should Marvel and Branagh have gone with someone else? Leave your responses in the comments!
