The Seven Most Innocence-Shattering Rap/Kids’ Show Mashups Online

What is it that makes mashups of rap songs and children’s show clips so irresistible?  It is the humor of incongruity in its purest form.  When you watch one, your brain says, hey Barney wouldn’t solve a dispute by glocking his enemies and raping their women, yet that is exactly what he seems to be advocating here.  Lose your innocence all over again, with these, my seven favorite fun rap/kids’ show mashups! 

Spongebob feat. Eminem – Just Lose It

Spongebob has always had that sort of manic, shaky-handed, just-shot-someone-where-the-f*ck-do-I-hide-the-gun quality that also characterizes Em’s raps and persona.  So this one makes a lot of sense.

Dora the Explorer feat. Down AKA Kilo – Lean Like a Cholo

The joke here, I think, is that Dora is Hispanic.

Alice in Wonderland feat. Three 6 Mafia – Smokin’ on Da Dro

Alice in Wonderland, on its own, is pretty unambiguously trippy.  But sync up Three 6, who are never too keen on ambiguity themselves, and it’s pretty obvious what’s going on here.

Lazytown feat. Lil Jon – Cooking by the Book

Lil Jon raps about hos grinding up on their men as the preteen star of Lazytown shoots a frosting gun all over the place.  The things we do to bake a pretty cake.

Teletubbies feat. Unk – Walk It Out

I guess I had never realized how much walking the Teletubbies do on their show.

The Wiggles feat. Illegal Substance – Let’s Get F*cked Up

Inspired use of slow-mo here.  At around 2:40, especially.  A Wiggles party is essentially a rave that animals are invited to.

Barney feat. Tupac – Hit Em Up

The original, the gold standard, the alpha and the omega.  Eleven years ago, one man heroically sacrificed having a job or life in order to bring us these 2 glorious minutes of the big purple menace thumping an oversized toothbrush against his chest.  The game would never be the same.
