America Is Finally Ready to Not Get Arrested for Smoking Weed
Most doctors don’t oppose it. Arnold Schwarzenegger is basically for it. President Obama is fine with it. And now it seems that most Americans agree: weed ain’t so bad, and anyway, it was going to be hard to win the War on Drugs while we were on drugs all the time ourselves. According to three recent polls, a majority of Americans now favor the legalization of marijuana. In one, 52% backed the regulation and taxation of the stuff compared to 37% opposed. In other polls, the numbers who were down for the cause were 46% and 56%. Over 300,000 people have been arrested for cannabis offenses so far this year. ATJ, a video of Arnold lighting up.
In 2003, the federal government spent over $19 billion on the War on Drugs, which is $600 per second. That figure has since increased. State governments spend even more.
