Porn Star Sasha Grey in Steven Soderburgh Film, RS Photoshoot

Porn star Sasha Grey is sort of switching up roles to play a high-end call girl in the new Steven Soderburgh film The Girlfriend Experience, which debuted at the TriBeCa Film Festival on Tuesday.  The director’s philosophy with the movie is pretty neat: he has also cast a movie critic to play an escort reviewer and a magazine features writer to play a journalist, so most of the “actors” are playing their real-life roles.  On top of that, much of the dialogue in the film is improvised, which seems highly unusual for non-professional actors.

Then again Grey, for her part, has already appeared in such cinematic expressions as Grand Theft Anal 11, No Swallowing Allowed 13, Sasha Grey’s Anatomy, and Kiss Attack, one of the first films to explicitly show hardcore mouth-to-mouth scenes.  (I know, right?  Kiss Attack?)  More about the film, plus the Rolling Stone photos, after the jump. 

The movie revolves around Chelsea (Grey), an escort who provides the “girlfriend experience” to clients (this is when you pay a prostitute to make you feel like somebody loves you) for $2,000 an hour, while also maintaining an off-hours relationship with her boyfriend (for free).  The potential for romantic comedy dialogue is hilarious!

“You’re home!  How was work today, honey?”

“Pretty hard.  I need a glass of wine.  I had Chad again.”

“Oh no.  Chad with the diapers?”

“No, that’s Bill.  Chad’s the one who rubs pie on himself and cries.  It gets on my dresses.”

Anyway, here’s Soderburgh’s explanation of casting choice:

“With Sasha, you can within seconds see her do anything you can imagine with her clothes off,” he said. “What you can’t see is what it’s like to be her boyfriend, to hang out with her and be emotionally intimate with her. So my whole theory is that’s the fantasy for those who’ve been double-clicking – that they want to spend 77 minutes being her boyfriend.”

Is that the fantasy?  An intriguing concept nonetheless.  Clearly, Sasha Grey’s star is on the rise.  Here are the RS photos of “the dirtiest girl in the world.”
