Twitter Will Only Make Your Swine Flu Worse

You always knew Twitter was evil somehow, but you didn’t think it would come to this.  Not so soon, anyway.  Yet now, as swine flu ravages Mexico and certain parts of Queens and humanity prepares to enter its darkest hour, Twitter has turned against us.  Nearly 2% of all Twitter messages on Monday concerned swine flu, with many Twitterers hellbent on sowing panic and spreading misinformation about the disease.  According to CNN,

“This is a good example of why [Twitter is] headed in that wrong direction, because it’s just propagating fear amongst people as opposed to seeking actual solutions or key information,” said Brennon Slattery, a contributing writer for PC World.

Swine flu?  Sounds more like a case of Twitter Fever to me!  Or Twittorrhea.  Or Twitter AIDS.
