Whale Researchers Hit Whale with Their Whale-Researching Boat

whale researcher hit whale

A 50-foot National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) boat hit a right whale the other day off the coast of Massachusetts.  The research and protection agency, one of whose duties is to protect the endangered whale, slammed right into the damn thing at 22 miles per hour.  Sometimes, in order to save the whales, you need to run over them with a boat.

What I don’t understand, though, is this: the research crew hit the whale.  Then they followed the whale for 45 miles to make sure it was ok (it was).  All of this happened out in the middle of the ocean, yet it was reported in national news outlets, which means that somebody told the press about the incident.  If I were a whale protection boat captain, and I hit an endangered whale with my whale-protecting boat, and no one was there to see it… then as far as I know, it basically didn’t happen.

I work with these kind of people.

    Totally the way they think.

Don’t let them near power tools.

And don’t work for them directly.
