"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" Delivers Early Christmas Present for Fans

I can’t think of a better way to start the workweek than with news of a straight-to-DVD XMas spectacular by the same people who brought us classic episodes like “Martina Martinez” (see clip below!), “Who Pooped the Bed?“, “Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare“ and “Glory Hole.”
FX Productions and Fox Home Entertainment are currently in the works to release a straight-to-DVD Christmas special of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia later on this year.
DVD sales for TV shows has dwindled as of late, and network execs are hoping the straight-to-DVD original content will boost sales. After the DVD’s release, the currently untitled special will eventually air on FX as two separate episodes.
Eric Schrier, executive VP of FX Productions and senior VP of series development, said, “[Fox Home Entertainment] had a lot of success with Family Guy and some other properties doing direct to video, so we talked about it at length, about what would be the right thing for [Sunny].”
It’s amazing to think that, despite the seemingly limitless supply of networks and shows on TV, there are only a short list of shows worthy of watching anymore. Even Family Guy and South Park are starting to get old to me. It’s Always Sunny, 30 Rock, and It’s Me or the Dog (Guilty!) are the only shows I find myself having become addicted to as of late.
Above all, however, It’s Always Sunny takes the cake. Like Seinfeld on crack, this show will make a person take a better look at their inner (f*cked-up) selves as you find yourself laughing out loud at the characters’ ruthless honesty and egotistical ways.
How about you ladies and gents, would you buy the It’s Always Sunny XMas special??? Not your thing? Then, what are some of your favorite TV shows?
