Douchebag Of The Day: Judge That Refuses To Give Child Bride A Divorce

A young Saudi girl has been seeking divorce from her 47-year-old husband.  However, the Saudi judge reponsible for her case continues to refuse to annul the nuputals.

The 8-year-old girl, who’s father sold her into a sort of slavery after trying to erase debts cannot be divorced from her husband.  The judge, Sheikh Habib Al-Habib, ruled this because she has been seeking the divorce through her mother, who is currently seperated from her father.  The judge says, because the girl has not reached puberty and the father is not pursing the case that the girl cannot yet divorce her slave holder, err her husband.

Ugh, this is disgusting!  How do you expect a young girl to petition to save herself when her FATHER SOLD HER TO A 47-year-old man.  There is no way the father is going to try and undo what he did.  I certainly hope that someone intervenes and tries to help this girl.  However, things look dismal and in Saudi Arabia women are not exactly second class citizens, let alone first class.
