Obama Chicken Fingers: Barack-sploitation?
Germans, racist? Shut your mouth!
Sprehe, a German frozen food company, has produced a new line of fried chicken fingers tastefully named “Obama-Fingers.” The company’s sales manager said their intention was not to offend, but instead pay “homage to the American lifestyle and new U.S. president.”
The company went on to explain that it was because Obama “symbolizes hope” that they decided to name his product after the first African-American U.S. president because, “in this struggling economy, hope sells.”
Either Germans are retarded, or they think us Americans are retarded. Even if this product wasn’t intentionally racist, their marketing director should most certainly be fired for failing to see the bigger picture. I’m surprised they didn’t point out that the chicken fingers came with “curry dip,” and that said dip wasn’t associated with the African-American culture.
One of my high school exes was from Germany, and every time popped by our friend’s place to pick her up her father would be sitting on the couch watching porn on his TV. He’d then ask my boyfriend, “So, Mirko, do you get a hard-on for scheizer films?” Realistically, all humans stereotype. Also, realistically, most humans are retarded.

This is a matter of national security! I’m offended, as well as insulted. German’s are retarded and are in serious need of another reality check. I mean if your going to associate President Obama’s name with a meat product, the Obama Beef Bratwurst would be a more “politically correct” term to use. I mean where did they get this idea of size superiority?
you have to understand that there is no african-american culture in germany. there is no stereotype of the chicken-eating black guy there, if thats what your accusations of racism are referring to.
Anyway, whats the point of this post? This used to be a blog about T&A, i kinda get the feeling your survey gave you wrong ideas about what people come here for. if we wanna look at obama fingers and food porn, we go to digg ffs. thanks for your work melysa though

kassandra got right! i was in germany in 2006 at da world cup since this time i love the G´s(like the most do now), it was great there and just hospitality, no discrimination!

You’re right, chances are they don’t know the American stereotypes and it wasn’t intentionally racist, but like I said, their marketing director should have considered the bigger picture. That’s their job. Kind of like the Chevy Nova did so poorly in Latin cultures back when they were being sold because “Nova” translates to “no va” which means “doesn’t go” / “doesn’t work”. But like I said in the post, everyone is culturally retarded to some extent. My friend’s dad literally thought my boyfriend was into scheizer porn because he was German. That’s equally as much a stereotype as the chicken fingers. My family (who are Puerto Rican) went to Germany last year to visit my cousin who was stationed there with the US military, and they said they were surprised at how Germans loved Latin culture and there were latin restaurants everywhere and they even heard a couple cars listening to Daddy Yankee. LOL.

I agree Kassandra! Germans do not know common African-American stereotypes! chicken, watermelon, lemonade, etc -how should they have a stereotypes like that if less than 3% of the population is black!? Plus a lot of them are from Africa. They simply used Obama’s name because Barack is pretty popular in Germany, and stands for something which is as American “as chicken fingers” but I understand if people who do not know about Germans regard this as racially insensitive. I’m 6’4 so they automatically think I’d be a basketball player – that is a stereotype they have.
At what point are we as African Americans taking stuff too far? How is this racist? Smh, we have come a long way but when you start knit picking you are stepping back a notch. Would it have been better if it were fish fingers? I think they were trying to give Obama a compliment, sheesh…let it go!
