Your Daily Fug! Why Does Nickelback Suck So Bad?

Chad Kroeger, lead singer for Nickelback, performing live at The Wachovia Center March 9 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (3)

Say what? Nickelback still exists?! Proof positive, here is lead singerĀ Chad Kroeger performing on stage in Philly earlier this week.

It’s insulting to think that there are countless amounts of talented musicians out there and yet record labels continue to sign unoriginal acts such as this one.

Honestly, I’d rather listen to Britney Spears then be subjected to this garbage. At least Brit Brit takes the time to learn some core stripper moves so she can entertain us on stage. As Radiohead once sang, “Anyone can play guitar.”

Then, of course, there’s the physical aspect of it all. To imagine Chad going down on me, love juice smeared across his face, it’s enough to make me renounce sex altogether. And that’s saying a lot! Excuse me, I’m going to go vomit now. *hurl*

Thank you! I’m from Vancouver (where the band is from), and it seems like Nickelback is loved by so many people… outside of where they come from. I don’t know a single person here who can actually stand listening to their shit. I’m glad to see it’s not just Vancouverites.

I hate this band more than any other band that’s ever existed! Their music is so sickening to listen to that I literally want to throw up at the faintness sound of their music; not to mention how stupid their lyrics are. Funny they should mention this story because I was in a Home Depot store this past weekend and they were playing a NB song over the sound system. Some girls standing in front of me were saying how much they loved this band but didn’t know the name of the group. Then a guy standing in front of them, in his late 40′s/early 50′s, yelled out NB in almost a celebratory fashion. All of a sudden, they all started sing along while the guy in front started dancing like a retard. I swear, this is one of the gayest experiences I’ve ever had. Not only did I have to wait in line and watch this insulting crap unfold, but it was almost like I unwillingly became an supportive participate by just being there. NB reminds me of another pathetic band called Collective Soul who used a grunge-like image to market their sh*ty music, only to revel their true colors several years later when they went 100% glam, with leather tight pants, salon hair highlights, and expensive designer shirts. Yes, we need more bands like Radiohead. Rock music today is in a sad state of affairs.

  3. Hahahaha. Both of you totally made my day! Especially that story about the people at Home Depot, ESPECIALLY since the whole pathetic display took place in such a stereotypically manly place. I seriously would just been like, “I’m out” dropped my shit and walked out of the place. I was at a house party talking to this couple I didn’t know and we were talking about music and I don’t remember exactly what I said, but it was something along the lines of “I’m a rocker chick at heart, but not rock as in Nickleback. That’s shit right there!” And then the girl said, “Nickelback was actually our first date.” and they just kinda stared back at me. They left five minutes later. Haha. Oh, well, if their musical taste is any indication, we probably wouldn’t have gotten along anyway!

I have no idea, but I’d like to apologize on behalf of Canada.

Well since I read in some article, somewhere on the net, that “Rock is Dead”, (the only remaining is Nickelback) the new hope for revival is Lil’ Wayne with his new rock album “The Rebirth” :P

So i think you better start liking Nickelback, lol

PS: I actually like some of Nickelback’s songs. So they are Canadians, never knew that. No wonder they look & feel different, and i mean that in a good way.

    Dear Mak,

I live in Australia. Down here we are subjected to all sorts of american shite on the airwaves. It saddens me in most cases that the nature of the industry in question is to produce bands that will make one hit song “inspired” by some producer and then to be shuffled on down the line, never to be heard of again. The high turn over of the American music industry is a horrible thing; it means that bands never get to develop their musical potential, they are just shelved.

While i personally do not listen to much pop music ( i make a few exceptions) because i take offence at it’s nature, recently i have found myself wishing that the canadians would follow suit and shelve nickelback.

I mean seriously, what are they. “Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band from Hanna, Alberta”

and what the fuck is post grunge. If post punk was punk for sellouts with no idea about the passion needed to make music that moves people (think of avril lavigne). Then i think the same can be said of post grunge.

NickelBack have made 5 albums in the last ten years all of which sound the same. I hope i never have to hear them again. Mak, i would God honestly prefer to listen to lil Wayne’s new album “Rock the rebirth” than anything by nickelback. At least it would probably be original.

In 2005, Rolling Stone said “All the Right Reasons is so depressing, you’re almost glad Kurt [Cobain]‘s not around to hear it.”

I know rolling stone can be ruthless slanderes of decent music from time to time (they hated on zeppelin for years even in the face of widespread public love) but that”s just too good.
