Pink Dolphin, Barbie's Best New Accessory?

Pinky, the worlds only known pink dolphin.

What would you do if you were sailing your boat and came across a pink dolphin?  Well, Captain Erik Rue immediately took a photo and began studying the animal.

To hear more about why the dolphin is pink keep reading after the jump>>>

Rue first photographed the dolphin, called Pinky, has been bringing people to catch a glimpse of the dolphin, which first surfaced in Lake Calcasieu, an inland saltwater estuary somewhere north of the Gulf of Mexico.  Rue noticed the dolphin as it swam in a pod with four other dolphins, one of which has been identified as it’s mother.

The dolphin has reddish colored eyes in addition to pink skin leading researchers to believe the animal’s pink color is due to albinism.

In an interview with the Telegraph UK Rue said:

I just happened to see a little pod of dolphins, and I noticed one that was a little lighter.  It was absolutely stunningly pink.  I had never seen anything like it. It’s the same color throughout the whole body and it looks like it just came out of a paint booth.  The dolphin appears to be healthy and normal other than its coloration, which is quite beautiful and stunningly pink.  The mammal is entirely pink from tip to tail and has reddish eyes indicating it’s albinism. The skin appears smooth, glossy pink and without flaws.

This animal looks exactly like something I used to draw when I was eight-years-old.  Young girls everywhere can finally feel fulfilled as they live in a world where pink dolphins exist.  Better yet, at this rate, I cannot wait to run into a winged horse or a unicorn.
