F-Listed is Tracking Your Tax Dollars!

Barack Obama is tackling the way government contracts are awarded. Why? Because no-bid contracts and pay-to-play politics have no place in today’s economy. There is no accountability with those contracts and it is not competition!

Even in our transportation spending, some numbers seem like unbelievable costs. After pulling up the contracts from the Department of Transportation from 2008, and looking at the first 500 awards, there was already over $4 billion inĀ spending. The numbers kept on growing. So, it is not just defense spending that becomes wasteful, but all government spending!
There were hundreds of millions spent on pre-flight and in-flight services to Lockheed Martin. There was over $30 million on ONE award for the recording of flights! This company that performs telecom operations for the FAA, received over $100 million, just in the first 50 awards. I found well over $200 million in the whole thing.
Many people have heard about Obama’s pricey helicopter, Marine 1. Since 2005, when the initial contract was awarded, the government has spent $11.2 billion on this project, which might not ever even produce a helicopter. Even Barack himself said that the project was “an example of the procurement process gone amok.” (Everyone expects Obama to cut the spending for this.)
Here is a big question: If our government (the SEC) was unaware of a $50 billion ponzi scheme being executed by Bernie Madoff, nearly out in the open, then how are they going to protect our tax dollars from corruption in some company who probably has their hands dirty in Washington and little corporate accountability, like we’ve seen in many other companies?
We as taxpayers need to hold our government accountable! We should not have to wait for a strong leader to hold our hand and walk us into school.

I have always been told the $500 toilet seats were any bureau’s way of going over-budget. If they went on or under-budget, the following year’s new budget would be reduced. Shame.
