What's New Pussycat? That Show 'Dollhouse' with Eliza Dushku Is Going To Be Awesome

I have been a big fan of Eliza Dushku for a while now.  So I was really excited to hear new details about her up and coming Fox show, Dollhouse at the NYCC this past weekend.  After seeing the intro to the pilot and hearing show creator, Joss Whedon speak, I have to tell you that Dollhouse sounds like it’s about to be my favorite new show on television.

The show’s premise has girls, known as “actives” living in a house together after having their memories erased.  We’re not even sure if they agree to this on their own or are forced into it.  Each episode has the actives going on different adventures as they are hired by different people to perform different tasts.  The actives could be doing anything from safe cracking to being hired to fullfill the sexual fantasties of the proverbial John.

Whedon also added that the premise is exciting as the chracter traits acquired from each mission begins to bleed into Eliza Dushku’s character Echo’s life away from the job, and vice versa.  As the character takes on the ability to evolve and become self aware.  More than anything I am excited at the possibilities for the storyline.

Since the Actives assignments change from week-to-week it provides writers with the ability to keep things really intersting, which is awesome.  Especially since this is a show that highlights the idea of something like escorting or prostitution.  These women are hired, but without their knowledge and then have their memories erased.  Since the characters won’t be able to remember doing any of these things, does it make it wrong that they are doing each mission without their expressed conscent?
