Valentine's Day: Ten Awesome Ways To Celebrate

Valentines Day is one of those occasions where you need to find something viable to do regardless if you’re alone or if you have a significant other. It’s now widely regarded that Valentines Day is a man made holiday, but as American’s don’t we look for any excuse to celebrate anyways?
A lot of the time it’s a celebration of your situation, regardless if you’re single or romantically involved with someone Valentines Day is a good excuse to do something awesome. Awesome can be interpreted in many ways. Rather than your run of the mill, typical ways to celebrate Valentines Day we’ve compiled a list of interesting things to do to celebrate yourself, your significant other or both of you.
What you do on Valentines Day should actually be determined by what you and your significant other consider awesome. I realize that should be pretty obvious, but the fact that television, movies and advertising have brainwashed people into thinking that Valentines Day is about hearts and romance. It’s about love. More specifically, what you and your loved one enjoy doing together. Why would you want to do something that sounds romantic, but you actually don’t even like doing? That sounds the opposite of romantic to me.
1. Go To A Concert - I’m not talking Tony Bennet or anything, but go and see some live music. A lot of times listening to music is pastime that couple enjoy together, so why not go to a live show of your favorite local band. You can have a few drinks and enjoy the company of your loved one while enjoying live tunes. The economical bonus, a lot of live local shows are not all that expensive. Love doesn’t need to come with a bill.
2. Attend A Sporting Event – Different strokes for different folks, but if you and your gal love sports get tickets to see your favorite team. I have never been one to believe that romance is hearts and flowers, but about awesome. And how awesome is it to go to a game, have some beers and go crazy rooting for you team with the person you love?
3. Visit A Perfumer – What says love like taking your significant other to have their signature scent made? It’s the gift that keeps on giving because every time they wear it you’ll both be reminded of each other. Bonus points if after you make you, you race to your car to put it on all his/her erogenous zones and then do a little hanky panky in the back seat.
4. Go To A Strip Club – At first this might sound like a terrible idea, but it isn’t. Take your special lady out to dinner, shower her with compliments, kiss her softly and then take her to a strip club, get her a dance and make sure that she knows she’s more important than all the women in the club, in the world even. After being in that environment she’ll be sure to pounce on you the second you leave. I know I do.
5. Throw A Valentines Day Single Party – Nothing says fun like a bunch of single people having fun on Valentines Day. Make it mandatory to wear red and pour the drinks with a heavy hand. You might start the night alone, but you’ll definitely end it with someone else.
6. Take Her To The Place You Went On Your First Date – Women are sentimental. Just letting her know that you remember mundane details about the things you have done together will score you some points. Nothing’s more awesome than when a man lets you know that they remember things about your relationship. You could also take her to some restaurant you’ve heard her say she wanted to go to in the passing. If your girl is into practical jokes, take her to a fast food restaurant first and then surprise her when she looks upset by telling her you’ve planned something more awesome. Hey, there’s only one way to find if a girl loves you for you, and Valentines Day seems like a good day to test the waters as any.
7. Make A Valentines Day Scavenger Hunt – Nothing says fun like making someone go on the hunt for you like you did for them. Structure the scavenger hunt in a way so that the places she has to go are places that are significant to your relationship. That place you had your first kiss, it’s the perfect place to hide another clue. Then end the hunt at your favorite restaurant, the beach or a place you too like to get away.
8. Take Her To An Iconic Romantic Place From The Movies – If you live in New York bring her to the top of the Empire State Building and profess your love for her. If you live in Los Angeles take her to the Griffith Observatory late at night and share kisses with her under one of the most beautiful backdrops of all time. What’s most important is that you take her away from your everyday life and share a moment in time with her that can never be recreated.
9. Take Her On A Surprise Getaway – For most people money is tight, but if you don’t find yourself burdened by this financial pickle then make plans for a weekend getaway. A hotel, a cabin, even a bed & breakfast will work perfectly. Something close and secluded is perfect. Make the reservations, pack her a bag, put her in the car and don’t tell her anything until you get to your location. Then once you get there spend the entire time in bed together.
10. Get Massages Together – Couples massages are extremely relaxing. The two of you, side-by-side, enjoying each other’s company while having your body massaged can be one of the most sensual things ever. If you want to make it truly special and romantic, get a hotel room and hire masseuses to come in and work on both of you at the same time. Then after it’s over continue the massages on one another.
