College Kids Smoke Weed? How Awful!

In my experience, college was 4 years of getting drunk, getting stoned, and getting laid. For millions of students out there, it is the same story. Many go on to lead productive lives in which their college years are a funny conversation piece of absurdity and irresponsibility.

When you are one of the most famous athletes in the world, things don’t work out so discreetly.

A British Tabloid, News of the World, discovered and printed a picture of the now 23 year old Michael smoking out of a glass bong. (A nice, Roor bong with ice-catcher) This picture was reportedly taken after his Olympic triumphs and winning of 8 gold medals. World news outlets have picked up the story, some in surprise and some in disgust! I’m really not sure how you can be surprised or disgusted by this.

Why be surprised? I bet that most of the staff at that paper has smoked as well as their kids. These days, most people have probably taken a puff, including our current president and the two before him. (I guess admitting to it, somewhat, makes it all better.) It didn’t keep any of them from becoming the world’s most powerful man. Phelps, however, is going to lose millions in sponsorships, no doubt. Advertisers who are afraid that the people of the world will be hesitant to buy good endorsed by a lazy, giggly stoner.

Getting high can make you lazy, but not for all people. It does affect memory in all people, but can spark creativity as well. The effects on the lung of Phelps would be his biggest physical problem, swimming aside. His largest concern when lighting up though, is probably that some sniffy hack would find a picture of it.

In my opinion, if anybody in the world deserved a bong rip and a day of sitting on the couch watching old Seinfelds, then it was MP. I would have packed it myself.

Irresponsible? Yes, it was irresponsible.

Is he entitled to some mistakes at 23 years old? Yes.

Is he still a bad, bad fish-man? Him and his squint-eyes still make up the best swimmer in the world. (Maybe he won’t get so much water in his eyes now.)

This guy could swim with that bong in his hand, not even get the goods wet, smoking the green, while smoking his competitors.
