Spiderman & The "Nerd-In-Chief" Meet

President Elect Barak Obama and Spiderman fan, on the Inauguration Day Special Edition cover of "The Amazing Spiderman," January 2009 (1)

After hearing President Elect Barack Obama was a Spiderman fan, Marvel’s editor-in-chief Joe Quesada said the idea for the special Inauguration Day Edition of “The Adventures of Spiderman” was concocted.

The storyline has an impostor attempt to take the seat as president and Spiderman has to come to the rescue to not just save President Elect Obama, but the world.  Barack is the first president to have an entire storyline written about him, other presidents have only had walk-on roles. The issue will hit stands next Wednesday.

I always wanted to be immortalized in a comic book, had I known the easiest way to do this was be President of the United States, then I probably would have pursued a career in politics instead of debauchery.  How about you?  Do you think putting President Elect Barack Obama in the comic book is nerd chic or a waste of time?  Leave your opinions in the comments.

I say neither though they intend it to appear ‘Nerd Chic’ as you say. I believe it’s intended as another easy sell for ‘Obamaniac’ collectors that may even pay off in the end depending upon how few copies they print.

On another note, I really don’t care for the guy. I think he’s just another empty suit so I voted for the Green Party’s Cynthia McKinney. However, I still have enough respect to spell his name right!
