Music Mondays: Portishead

Like many of you, I’ve waited 11 excruciating years for Portishead to finally put out a new album. Alas, as my hope was beginning to fade and my desire for bittersweet, brooding music was beginning to subside, UK’s finest trip-hop band has produced a new album.

Trust that I’m not lying, nor exaggerating, when I say I had multiple orgasms when I discovered they would be releasing a new album. They’re that effing good. Sadly, I was unable to see them at Coachella this weekend, but hope to see them during their 2008 tour.

The album hits the shelves tomorrow, so be sure to pick up a copy. Not a digital copy — a real hardcopy version. (They’re called CDs — for you youngster who may not know what I speak of.)

To read PitchforkMedia’s album review of the long awaited Third album by Portishead, click here. The video for their first single “Machine Gun” is already out, and I was kind enough to place it after the jump for all you cool kids. Enjoy!!!

Below are some photos of their performance at Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival over the weekend.

(Excuse the repeating of photos and formatting. Technology is hating on me today.)

Video for “Machine Gun” after the jump!

A reader literally made me LOL after reading his comment where he said his ear was raped by Portishead’s new single.

So, for those of you who may not be too keen on the new single, I’ve gone ahead and added what I believe is the sexiest, most popular and loved Portishead track of all time, “Glory Box.” They disabled the code for the original video, so I’ve added a live video. I hope you guys enjoy and appreciate this one more.

We all have different tastes in music, but I’m feeling like 5 minutes were stolen from me, and my ear canal was raped by Portishead.

  2. Haha. Carlos, check out that other video I just posted. “Glory Box” makes my heart melt, and my panties wet. If that song doesn’t make your heart sway and your loins pulsate with lust then you best you go see a doctor fast! =)

Let me know what you think of “Glory Box.” I’m curious.

OK, I admit this particular song caused my dummy stick to spring. I stand corrected, but in my defense I love the type of music that usually leaves bloody fingers when played live. Give me some Pantera, or old school Metallica. Cliche? Pretty much.

  4. Carlos,

I know the guys from Mastodon. Does that count for anything?
