Jessica Alba Is Whining Again

 

Mexican-American star Jessica Alba sure has a knack for complaining, a knack she once again tuned into during a recent interview with Latina Magazine.

This time Alba refrained her “I want to be taken seriously as an actress” talk and instead whined about how she’s the target of criticism because she doesn’t speak Spanish, which she apparently thinks it unfair.

“No one gives Cameron Diaz a hard time for not speaking Spanish,” says Alba. “Her dad’s Cuban, and I was telling her I feel so bad because everyone is so nasty to me for not speaking Spanish. She’s like, ‘I don’t speak Spanish! I barely speak English!’,” says the pregnant star with a laugh.

Although Alba’s father is a second-generation Mexican-American, the actress has admitted that she was never taught to speak Spanish as a child, and Diaz isn’t the only Latina who shares her struggle in learning the language.

Shortly after she was denied a role in director Spike Lee’s 25th Hour, Alba had a revealing conversation with that movie’s star, Rosario Dawson. “[Lee] said, ‘We’re going to hire a Latin girl who can speak Spanish,’ and then he hired Rosario. What’s so funny is that I’ve worked with Rosario and she’s like, I don’t speak Spanish.’ I was like, ‘You don’t?’ And she was like, ‘No!’”

*Rolls eyes* Alright, I will admit that I understand where she is coming from, but only to an extent.

I’m a born and raised Puerto Rican who has spoken more English than Spanish my entire life, resulting in my being called “Gringa” by many of my class peers.  But ultimately the question is, so what?  Everyone gets picked on for something.

Jessica Alba needs a reality check.  People don’t dislike her because she doesn’t speak Spanish, people don’t like her ’cause she’s always whining and walking around with a sour look on her damn face!  Meanwhile Cameron and Rosario seem to be in the best of spirits when photographed most of the time.

Secondly, the fact that Spike Lee selected Rosario Dawson despite her inability to speak Spanish should tell her something:  You can’t effing act!
